During September our students challenged each other for our Sweatshirt Design Contest. Stay tuned as the winners will be selected this Friday, October 5th!
Also stay tuned for a special event in November where a few of the world’s top ranked art colleges will have special presentation for AOMA.
Classes
September kicked off our Fall Semester with many fun and engaging art courses. We are only 3 weeks into our courses and already students are making fantastic progress. We’re seeing lots of finished projects and some amazing improvement. Great work everyone!! See below for highlights.
Still Life Drawing
Monday’s still life drawing class is a ton of fun for 9-12 year olds. In September we got messy learning charcoal, used our imaginations to get creative with face making and learned how to shade an egg with three different techniques.
9-12 years old Oil Painting
Our Teen Oil class is on Tuesday and has these teens quite engaged. This September students shared a special purple tie with instructor Kerry, finished up special “Lovely Animal” paintings for the Sweatshirt Design Contest and familiarized themselves with properties of oil paint.
Sunday & Wednesday Drawing & Painting Class
Students in this Wednesday class this month explored Zen Tangle drawings, Pointalism, painted a colourful autum scene in acrylic, and drew some tasty looking fruit!
Mixed Media
Students started this class on Thursday with canvas artwork in black and white and finished up with some final touches to a Zen Doodle project.
Creative Oil Painting
Students began an oil on canvas painting focusing on colour mixing, blocking in and brushwork. During September they finished their first oil painting ever! This class runs on Friday.
Life Drawing
On Sunday AOMA features life drawing. Students in this course had a course introduction, learned about the use of line and saw some fantastic improvements throughout the month of September.
Drawing & Painting
On Sunday we also have Drawing and Painting which saw students start a study of the eye and learn how to paint different skin tones.
