Join us at the Kerrisdale Community Centre for four free interactive visual arts workshops! Designed for creators of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels, these drop-in sessions provide expert guidance from acclaimed professional artists and university mentors. All materials are complimentary—come explore new techniques and take home your own handcrafted artwork!

Printmaking Workshop (Instructor: Alice Jang)
Alice obtained her degrees in Visual Arts & Biological Sciences from the University of British Columbia and received additional fine arts training from Emily Carr University and Columbia University in New York. She participated in the Malaspina Printmakers artist residency program from 2019 to 2022 and has taken part in various group and solo exhibitions. Her works have been featured in media outlets, selected for juried group exhibitions, and displayed in public
Threads & Textile Workshop (Instructor: Xiangmei Su)
Xiangmei Su is a Vancouver-based Canadian-Chinese multidisciplinary artist working across installation, mixed media, painting, photography, and video. Her practice explores memory, migration, cultural identity, and belonging, connecting her heritage in Suzhou with contemporary artistic expression. She holds a BA in Visual Arts from UBC, and her work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions across Canada and China.
Lantern Making Workshop (Instructor: Josh Byer)
Josh Byer is a Vancouver-based artist who created “Faux Fauvism”—an art style exploring pattern recognition and visual cognition. With over 1,400 completed works, his art has appeared internationally alongside Matisse, Picasso, and the Group of Seven. In addition to his studio practice, Josh is a beloved English instructor at AOMA, highly popular among his students.
3D Papercraft Workshop (Instructor: Shannon Xu)
Shannon holds a Master’s degree in Fashion & Accessories Design from the U.S. and brings years of global fashion industry experience across design, pattern making, and visual merchandising. As an elite Portfolio Mentor at AOMA, she has successfully guided students into world-renowned institutions, including Cornell University’s Fashion Management program.
